Job summary

The Structures Company in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Software Engineer-Systems 5 to develop and maintain high‑performance C2 software for aerospace programs. You will lead software development in a scaled agile DevSecOps environment, and integrate components into a fully functional system.

The role requires DoD Secret clearance, U.S. citizenship, 5+ years in relevant domains, and 3+ years of leadership with Java/C++/Python. Docker/Kubernetes and GitLab CI/CD experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen with ability to obtain/maintain DoD Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree with extensive experience as specified (14+/18+/22+ years).
• 5+ years in systems engineering or software on space/ground systems.
• 3+ years leading software development projects.
• 3+ years of Java, C++, or Python.
• Experience with Flight Dynamics or Orbital Analysis or Satellite/Ground systems.
• Preferred: Product Owner/Technical Lead; Docker/Kubernetes; GitLab CI/CD; TS/SCI/Top Secret clearance.

Summary:

• Develops and maintains requirements, architecture, algorithms, interfaces, and design for high-performance Command and Control (C2) software solutions.

• Leads software development activities in a scaled agile methodology utilizing a DevSecOps environment.

• Supports software development activities and integrates completed software components into a fully functional software system.

• Supports progress demonstration presentations to customer representatives and program or IPT leadership.

• Performs day-to-day activities in the areas of Product Owner or Technical Leadership, Architecture, Design, and Direction of software products.

• Supports IPT by implementing a structured approach to defining and meeting a development and integration schedule alongside a rigorously managed cost baseline.

• Works with database technologies including SQL and NoSQL.

• Uses messaging systems including Kafka and ActiveMQ.

• Uses data streaming technologies including CCSDS.

• Implements CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to automate testing, builds, and deployment workflows.

Requirements:

• Ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

• Must be a U.S. Person (as defined by ITAR).

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited course in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science with 14+ years of related work experience, OR Bachelor's degree with 18+ years of directly related work experience, OR 22+ years of related, relevant experience.

• 5+ years of experience with systems engineering or software development on space-based or ground-based systems.

• 3+ years of experience leading software development projects.

• 3+ years of experience with software development using Java, C++, or Python.

• Experience with Flight Dynamics or Orbital Analysis, Satellite Management Systems, or Ground Control Management.

• Preferred: Experience as a Product Owner or Technical Lead.

• Preferred: Experience with containerization tools (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms, and CI/CD pipelines in GitLab.

• Preferred: Experience with formal acceptance testing (FQT, FAT, SAT) and active TS/SCI or DoD Top Secret clearance.
