Position Overview

As a Software Engineer Sr. within PNC’s Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA; Cleveland, OH; Dallas, TX; Jacksonville, FL; or Miamisburg, OH.

Responsibilities

• Provides detailed technical design and development of software solutions using existing and emerging technology platforms.
• Proposes and designs software solutions to address complex business needs.
• Writes code, tests, and deploys software.
• Prepares technical and procedural documentation for software.
• Maintains and debugs software.

Required Skills

• Knowledge of Object‑oriented Analysis and Design.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining high‑transaction, distributed RESTful APIs and microservices.
• Strong hands‑on Java experience (Java 11+, preferably Java 17).
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Strong experience with Agile methodologies (Scrum and Kanban).

Preferred Tech Stack

• Event‑driven architecture using Kafka/MQ.
• Experience with Kubernetes/OpenShift and other cloud‑based container platforms.
• Proficiency in Oracle/SQL/MySQL and in‑memory databases such as Redis; Hibernate/ORMs.
• Hands‑on unit testing frameworks Spock/JUnit and code quality controls like SonarQube.
• Advanced understanding of CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins.
• Experience with Dynatrace and Logscale monitoring tools.
• Experience with Java‑based microservices frameworks: Spring Boot (3+), Spring JPA, Spring Batch.
• Gradle and/or Maven.

Education & Experience

• University or college degree (Bachelor’s) with 3+ years of relevant industry experience.
• Certifications are desirable; a comparable combination of education, job‑specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Pay Transparency

Base Salary: $55,000.00 – $152,375.00; varies by location, market data, and individual skills, experience, and education.
