Insight is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer to join the Application Development department in a fully remote role.

You will work across concurrent engagements, owning features end-to-end with Java, Spring Boot, and modern frontends (React/Angular) on Google Cloud, while driving technical decisions and mentoring engineers. The role emphasizes ownership, proactive problem solving, and collaboration with stakeholders to deliver high-quality software across engagements.

Responsibilities

About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr. Software Engineer to join Insight's Application Development department. This is a department role rather than a position on a single customer project: the engineer will move across concurrent and successive engagements and is expected to act in the best interest of Insight's stakeholders and customers on each of them. This role is ideal for a senior full-stack engineer with deep Java and Spring Boot experience on the backend and production experience building modern web frontends, who takes ownership of outcomes, identifies and fixes problems without waiting for a task to be assigned, helps lead the engineering team on the engagements they join, and uses AI coding tools as a standard part of daily engineering practice. The successful candidate will work closely with Application Development leadership, engagement architects and technical leads, and customer stakeholders to ensure project success from initial definition through final delivery.Along the way, you will get to:

• Design and implement full-stack features across Java and Spring Boot services and React or Angular frontends on Google Cloud, from technical design through production release, on the engagements they are assigned to
• Own features, services, and integration areas end to end across the frontend and backend, including estimates, technical design documents, implementation, testing, and deployment
• Identify problems in code, architecture, process, or delivery and fix them or drive them to resolution without waiting for assignment
• Act in the best interest of Insight's stakeholders and customers when scope, quality, and timeline compete, and raise conflicts to the technical lead and Application Development leadership early
• Help lead the engineering team: run design discussions and technical standups when needed, unblock other engineers, review code from L3 engineers, and onboard new team members
• Follow and help improve the department's agent-driven delivery procedures, and remain accountable for the correctness of all code delivered, whether written by hand or generated
• Participate in customer working sessions, present technical options, and document decisions
• Meet the quality, security, and documentation requirements defined in each engagement's SOW

What we're looking for

Required Credentials

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot
• Production delivery of full-stack web applications, frontend and backend
• Production delivery experience on Google Cloud Platform
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience

Required Qualifications

• Java 17 or later and Spring Boot 3.x microservice development
• REST API design and integration with external systems
• Frontend development with React or Angular and TypeScript
• Building responsive, accessible user interfaces from design mockups
• Relational databases (PostgreSQL), including schema design and versioned migrations
• Event-driven and asynchronous messaging patterns
• API security with OAuth 2.0 / OIDC
• Automated unit and integration testing and CI/CD pipelines
• Containerized deployment on GCP services such as Cloud Run and/or GKE
• Daily use of AI coding assistants and agentic development tools for design, implementation, testing, and review, with the judgment to verify and correct generated output
• Ownership of outcomes: identifying problems in code, design, or delivery and driving them to resolution on their own initiative
• Technical leadership: leading design discussions, reviewing code, mentoring engineers, and stepping into the technical lead role on an engagement when needed
• Clear written and verbal communication with Insight and customer stakeholders

Useful Qualifications

• Google Cloud Professional certifications
• Workflow or business rules engines (Camunda, Flowable)
• Agent frameworks such as Google ADK
• Experience in government or regulated environments
• Prior consulting or professional services delivery experience

The base salary range for this position is typically $130,000 to $150,000 with additional bonus and benefits available. However, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case, including experience and location, and we will also consider candidates outside of this range as necessary.
