Overview

Moog Advanced Programs (AP) West, a business unit of Moog Space and Defense, is looking for a Satellite Flight Software Engineer to join the Space Vehicles team in Arvada, CO. Moog AP West specializes in vibration suppression/load alleviation products and services, spacecraft buses and sub-systems, spacecraft and payload structure and propulsive accommodations, and precision motion control.

The Space Vehicles team is a cross-disciplinary group focused on the development of satellite buses, Orbital Maneuvering Vehicles (OMVs), space tugs, and more. The team collaborates on multi-faceted, complex problems.

This position has a primary focus of Flight Software Engineering and involves collaborating with Flight Software System Engineers, Test and Integration teams, and customers to ensure features and changes are captured and properly designed, implemented, and tested.

• Review requirements and design documents.
• Work directly with Flight Software System Engineers, Test and Integration teams to ensure proper design, implementation, and testing of the product.
• Engage with customers to capture features and changes.

Location

Basic Qualifications

• B.S. (4-year) in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or similar.
• 3–8 years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of C++ development.
• Self-starter with the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and communicate effectively.
• Must have access to US Export Controlled Information.

Preferred Experience / Qualifications

• 1+ years using VxWorks or other RTOS.
• Experience with spacecraft flight software development and design.
• Experience deploying software to embedded targets.
• Experience in Python3, XML, or scripting languages (Linux shells).
• Experience with driver-level firmware development and debugging.
• Experience with communications protocols such as TCP/IP, Ethernet, SpaceWire, LVDS, RS-422, RS-485, I2C, SPI.
• Experience with container engines (Docker, containers, or LXC).
• Experience with networking tools (netcat, Wireshark).
• Experience with common test/equipment such as digital multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes.
• Experience debugging sensitive electronic hardware.
• Experience with VS Code and developing in Windows and Linux environments.
• Experience with CI/CD tools.
• Experience with ground software programs (COSMOS, InControl, MAXGDS) and MAX Flight Software.
• Experience creating software design diagrams and verifying Flight Software.
• Experience with program and design reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR) and Agile development.
• Experience interacting with customers and managing customer needs, as well as working with subcontractors.
• Experience writing and reviewing requirements and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
