AMERICAN SYSTEMS is a federal contractor supporting national priority programs in IT, engineering, analysis, and training. The Software Engineer SME will lead the multimedia review tool development within agile teams to deliver enhancements and fixes.

The role requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance, 10+ years of software development, and experience with petabyte-scale data processing. Proficiency in Java and front-end tech like Vue is essential.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of software development experience.
• Direct and recent experience building a petabyte-scale multimedia analysis platform.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications that handle petabyte-scale data and high-throughput processing.
• Proficiency in Java and front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Vue.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and CI/CD practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team, including setting goals and driving projects to completion.
• Strong problem-solving skills and UI/UX design experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team to implement features and resolve software issues in the multimedia review tool.
• Act as SME for the tool's codebase and guide developers to deliver changes.
• Deliver builds in agile sprints based on MXU requirements.
• Enhance the tool to display, correlate, and report multimedia data.
• Integrate ingestion workflow with MXU systems across distributed networks.
• Integrate MXU analytics to enable fast image viewing.
• Deploy the tool to all MXU environments and maintain stability.
• Maintain deployments across infrastructures in line with policies.
• Provide LOE and timing estimates in planning sessions.

Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is an employee-owned federal government contractor supporting national priority programs through our strategic solutions in the areas of Information Technology, Engineering & Analysis, Test & Evaluation, and Training.

Responsibilities

• Perform system engineering and develop the multimedia review tool using agile methodology to integrate bug fixes, security enhancements, and new capabilities.
• Act as a subject matter expert for all portions of the multimedia review tool code base and lead a team of developers to implement new features and resolve software issues.
• Deliver multimedia review tool builds using agile processes, providing incremental builds based on agreed-upon MXU requirements.
• Develop and enhance the multimedia review tool to visually display, correlate, and report multimedia data based on metadata and analytic results.
• Integrate the ingestion workflow with other MXU systems to seamlessly transfer data and processing results between systems that may be geographically separated with limited bandwidth.
• Integrate MXU analytics to enable users to view images quickly and intuitively.
• Perform system engineering and system administration to deploy the multimedia review tool to all MXU-designated development and operational environments.
• Maintain multimedia review tool deployments across various infrastructures, ensuring the tool remains consistent with all policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Provide level-of-effort and timing estimates during planning sessions.

Qualifications

• Active Top Secret Clearance with the ability to obtain SCI access.
• 10+ years of experience in software development, including in-depth knowledge of multimedia processing, analysis, and data management.
• Direct and recent experience building a petabyte-scale multimedia analysis platform.
• Experience developing and maintaining applications that handle petabyte-scale data and high-throughput processing.
• Proficiency in Java and front-end technologies, including JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and Vue.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Demonstrated ability to lead a technical team, including setting goals, assigning tasks, and driving projects to completion.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex software issues.
• Experience with user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) design, ensuring tools are accessible and efficient for end users.
• Relevant certifications in technical architecture or software engineering preferred.

Pay Transparency Statement

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $125,000.00/Yr. - USD $135,000/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
