Meet the Team

Cisco’s Smart Camera team is transforming enterprise security by merging edge-storage architecture with sophisticated AI-powered analytics. This is the team that designs and maintains the cloud services and infrastructure that drive reliable video streaming, video exports, and cloud storage for global retail partners, ranging from gas stations to large-scale fitness chains. As a member of this team, you will play a primary role in scaling these services and shaping the technical strategy that empowers our customers to optimize their mission-critical physical security operations, ensuring 24/7 system availability.

Your Impact
  • Architect & Scale: Build and maintain robust services for cloud video streaming, exports, and cloud video storage.
  • API & Backend Design: Design and implement high-performance APIs and backend services integrated into the Meraki Dashboard.
  • Cloud-Native Engineering: Develop scalable solutions on AWS with a rigorous focus on high availability, fault tolerance, and system performance.
  • Full-Stack Agility: While your primary focus is backend engineering, you will demonstrate the versatility to contribute across the full stack, including UI components and firmware interactions as needed.
  • End-to-End Ownership: Own your services from design through deployment, including comprehensive testing, instrumentation, and production observability.
  • Leadership & Incident Management: Drive the resolution of complex production issues, lead post-mortems, and author root-cause analyses to improve system resilience.
  • Strategic Collaboration: Partner with Product Managers and partner teams to define requirements, architecture, and long-term project roadmaps.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or equivalent) with 3+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience.
  • Experience in production Go, TypeScript, or an equivalent statically-typed programming language; and in a scripting language like Ruby (preferred) or Python.
  • Experience in backend software including REST-ful API design and relational databases.
  • Experience with distributed systems, microservices architecture, and container orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • Experience applying AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Claude) to accelerate velocity and code quality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Full-stack development experience, specifically with React and modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated experience with CI/CD pipelines and modern observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
  • Domain expertise in video streaming protocols (RTSP, HLS, WebRTC).
  • Advanced experience with AWS services (Lambda, SQS, DynamoDB) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform).
