Job summary

Pattern Data, an AI-powered platform for mass tort litigation, seeks a Senior Software Engineer to drive backend API design and implementation from idea to shipping. You will work with product and executive teams to scope projects and influence architecture.

The role emphasizes scalable systems, strong collaboration, and delivering high-impact solutions. You’ll contribute to a modern stack using Scala, TypeScript, PostgreSQL, GraphQL, Elasticsearch, and AWS, with ownership across the product

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in CS or related field.
• Ability to analyze a business need and select the most appropriate technical solution.
• Experience with startup teams.
• Experience designing, building, and maintaining backend APIs, preferably in a team lead role.
• Production experience or interest in strongly-typed functional programming.
• Experience with data structures, DB optimization, cloud infra and message queues.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• Curiosity and enthusiasm for tackling tough problems with effective solutions.
• Excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Passion for solving complex problems.

What You’ll Do

As a Software Engineer at Pattern Data, you will be involved throughout the product lifecycle - from idea generation, design, and prototyping to execution and shipping. You’ll effectively communicate tradeoffs and help scope and shape projects in close collaboration with our product and executive teams. You'll help build products deployed to legal teams at leading US law firms and play a significant role in the growth of the business and the engineering team.

You will:

Pay Transparency Disclosure

The estimated base salary range for this role is $160,000-$220,000 per year, plus bonus and benefits.

At Pattern Data, our compensation philosophy is built around fairness, transparency, and market alignment. Base salary represents just one part of our total compensation package, which also includes performance-based incentives, comprehensive benefits, and other rewards.

Final compensation will be determined based on several factors, including skills, experience, qualifications, geographical location and internal equity across the team.

We understand that exceptional candidates bring unique backgrounds and strengths. If the scope of the role changes during the hiring process, we’ll update and communicate any adjusted range accordingly.
