What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)

• Design and build distributed backend systems that are reliable and secure
• Work with TypeScript, Kotlin, and Go, with a focus on learning if you haven’t used them before
• Deploy and operate services in AWS and other cloud platforms
• Own problems end-to-end, from design through deployment to production support
• Collaborate closely with AI researchers, security researchers, and frontend engineers

What is Required (Qualifications)

• Experience building and operating scalable, distributed systems
• Comfort working in a fast-moving, early-stage environment
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work with incomplete information
• Familiarity with AWS or similar cloud platforms
• Experience with infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform or CDK)

How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

• Experience with event-driven architectures, message queues, or async workflows
• Background in systems programming, networking, or performance tuning
• Experience designing and optimizing relational databases, particularly Postgres
• Knowledge of hybrid deployments (cloud + on-prem) and resilient system design
• Previous experience building security products or products for technical users
