Los Alamos National Security LLC is seeking a software engineer for the Accelerator Operations Technology group. The role involves software solutions development, enhancing system performance, and troubleshooting within a collaborative environment.
The candidate should possess strong programming skills in C, C++, and Java, with experience in scripting languages, and be familiar with Linux systems. This position is located onsite in Los Alamos, NM.
Accelerator Operations Technology- Instrumentation and Controls Group (AOT-IC) seeks a software engineer to develop new solutions, enhance performance, support program functionality, and champion the reliability of our systems. As a full‑time engineer you will work in a dynamic, collaborative environment and be evaluated on quality of work and integration across simultaneous projects at LANSCE. Flexible schedules and development opportunities, mentorship, and potential project leadership are available.
Your responsibilities will include analyzing and solving problems associated with software, hardware, applications, operating systems, and all other aspects of a modern production controls system environment. Assignments range between programming, scripting, troubleshooting, and system configuration, as well as providing ongoing support to other accelerator teams with a high level of service quality.
In addition to the tasks outlined for Engineer 1, you will work on advanced software engineering tasks such as system interoperability, architecture analysis, deeper troubleshooting with advanced tools, mentoring and coaching others, and documenting and presenting results.
Lower level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution related to the occupation plus two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
Higher level: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution plus four years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
