Accelerator Operations Technology – Instrumentation and Controls Group (AOT‑IC) is seeking a software engineer to develop new software solutions, enhance software performance, support program functionality, and champion system reliability across LANSCE projects.
As a full‑time engineer you will collaborate in a highly dynamic environment, contributing to multiple simultaneous projects and ensuring high‑quality, integrated software solutions.
This position will be filled at either the Software R&D Engineer 1 or 2 level, depending on the candidate’s skills. Additional responsibilities may be assigned for the higher level.
Lower Level (R&D Engineer 1): Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution related to the occupation and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and technical experience.
Higher Level (R&D Engineer 2): Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and 4 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Location: Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: 1 year for regular appointment employees, with a requirement to serve a period of continuous service in the current position. Non‑exempt employees must have documented approval of their Division Leader.
Position does not require a security clearance. Selected candidates will be subject to drug testing and other pre‑employment background checks.
