Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with a rich background in Python programming. Some experience with Python in a data engineering environment is preferred. This contract position requires an individual who can expertly develop and enhance software solutions, with a focus on the challenges associated with developing data pipelines. This is primarily a software engineering role; thus, the emphasis is on robust software design and development principles including but not limited to object-oriented programming, design patterns, and automated testing.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement sophisticated software solutions utilizing Python to meet evolving business needs and user requirements.
2. Utilize strong understanding of object-oriented programming to ensure code is efficient, modular, and maintainable.
3. Implement and maintain design patterns, adhering to best practices for software development.
4. Leverage dependency injection techniques to write loosely coupled and testable code.
5. Develop unit tests and work closely with QA to ensure the delivery of high-quality software.
6. Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to ensure high coding standards.
7. Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
8. Document system designs, development plans, and other relevant information to facilitate future development and maintenance.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Proven experience as a Software Engineer, including professional experience with Python.
2. In-depth knowledge of object-oriented programming.
3. Understanding of various design and architectural patterns.
4. Experience with automated testing.
5. Familiarity with data engineering concepts and tools.
6. Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
7. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative and analytical mindset.
8. Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. Experience with cloud computing platforms like Azure, or AWS.
2. Experience with container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
3. Certification in Python programming or related fields.
4. Experience with C# and .Net.
5. Knowledge and experience with Geographic Information System (GIS) technologies.
6. Experience with big data technologies like Hadoop, Spark, etc.

Education:

Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field; or equivalent work experience and training.
