Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a software professional to work on revolutionary systems that impact global operations. The role involves collaborating across engineering domains in an Agile setting, delivering build/test/release cycles, and developing JEE/SOA solutions.

Applicants should have a STEM degree with SDLC and Agile experience, plus proficiency in Java and cloud technologies. On-site work at Oklahoma City or San Diego, with potential 10% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and at least 2 years of related engineering experience, or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Agile software development, object‑oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing.
  • Experience with Java, Java microservices, and GUI applications.
  • Experience with at least two of the following languages: Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell.

  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test in an Agile environment.
  • Participate in the software development cycle including prototype and GUI design, and delivery of build/test/release.
  • Develop enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in an SOA environment.
  • Work across the software lifecycle in a process-oriented environment.
  • Collaborate with team members regularly.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collaborate and work in a team environment with Systems Engineering, Cloud & Application, Test Automation, DevSecOps and Systems Test, in an Agile software development environment.
  • Participate in the software development cycle, including prototype and graphic user interface design, implementation and delivery of build/test/release.
  • Work with object‑oriented programming, design patterns, JMS, Web Services, XML and related technologies (i.e., XPath, XSLT, XSD).
  • Develop enterprise solutions for Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) in an SOA environment.
  • Work in a process‑oriented software development environment across the software lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with team members on a regular basis.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and at least 2 years of related engineering experience; or a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience.
  • Experience with the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Experience with Agile software development, object‑oriented architecture and programming, software integration and testing.
  • Experience and proficiency utilizing Java, Java microservices, Graphical User Interface (GUI) applications.
  • Experience with at least two of the following programming or scripting languages: Python, Go, C++, C#, PowerShell, VBScript, Bash, or KornShell.
  • Experience with Cloud technologies and service providers.
  • Ability to transfer and maintain a final adjudicated U.S. government Top Secret clearance (must be in‑scope or enrolled in Continuous Evaluation) and any program access(es) required for the position within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the Company.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Program Access (SAP/PAR) within a reasonable period of time, prior to commencement of employment and be able to maintain upgraded SAP/PAR while in role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current applicable SAP access.
  • Prior leadership experience using agile development, including participation as Product Owner, SCRUM Master, and/or team member.
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other STEM discipline.
  • Experience with at least one of the following databases: Oracle, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, Elasticsearch.
  • Experience with at least one of the following container management tools: Kubernetes, Amazon ECS, Docker Swarm, Nomad, Redhat OpenShift.
  • Experience with application and container security.
  • Experience with Machine Learning model development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with all levels of employees and management.
  • Experience with threading, intermediate object‑oriented programming, design patterns, Data Distribution Service (DDS) messaging, web technologies, Unified Modeling Language (UML), database essentials and SQL/NoSQL.
  • Prior experience using Atlassian Tool Suite, JIRA, SonarQube.
Work Conditions

The selected candidate will be required to work full‑time on‑site at the facility; no remote or hybrid telework options are available. An occasional travel requirement up to 10% of the time may be needed.

Salary and Benefits

Primary level salary range: $75,100.00 – $137,600.00. Employees may also be eligible for overtime, shift differential, discretionary bonus, and long‑term incentives. Northrop Grumman provides health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off.

Supports a role on site in San Diego, CA or Oklahoma City, OK.
