Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced Platform Infrastructure Engineer to design and build scalable backend systems and data pipelines. You will help accelerate engineering workflows with robust, event-driven architectures, CI/CD, and governance.

You will implement and operate AWS-based services and tools like Prefect, Airflow, and Dagster, while collaborating across teams to improve reliability, security, and cost optimization.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building platform infrastructure, backend services, or data systems in production.
• Experience operating pipelines, data access layers, distributed services, or ETL/ELT systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Experience designing REST APIs for internal services and developers.
• Strong background in distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Hands-on experience with AWS services such as S3, RDS, EKS, EventBridge, and IAM.
• Comfort working in a Terraform-managed environment.
• Familiarity with Prefect, Airflow, or Dagster.
• Familiarity with dbt.
• Understanding of RBAC, PII handling, audit logging, and data lineage.
• Track record of leading complex engineering initiatives and delivering measurable impact.
• Strong technical communication skills.
• Fluency with modern developer tooling and willingness to adopt new tools quickly.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agent infrastructure to safely and reliably accelerate engineering and operations workflows
• Design and implement event-driven data flows using event brokers, CDC connectors, schema registries, event routing, and dead letter queues
• Build data lineage, governance, RBAC, auditing, PII handling, retention policy enforcement, and enterprise compliance infrastructure
• Set strategy and architecture for build systems, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines
• Drive the transition toward robust, automated continuous deployment
• Instrument services with OpenTelemetry and define and monitor SLOs
• Build alerting to detect issues before incidents; participate in on-call for systems built
• Improve infrastructure cost visibility and optimization through query cost estimation, workload right-sizing, and storage-tier routing
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to improve codebases, infrastructure, and processes
