What you'll do:

Observability team design, build and operate a highly scalable, robust, and real-time observability infrastructure which allows X’s engineering teams to measure, visualize, alarm, investigate, and optimize all manner of issues related to X’s platform, infrastructure, and services. Our systems collect and process billions of metrics and evaluate millions of alerts per minute in real-time. To do so, we leverage a number of internally developed services that have been purpose-built to meet our demanding scale, latency, and reliability requirements. We are mission critical to X so can’t afford any downtime. Operating our own systems at hyper growth levels is a rewarding challenge, it is what helps make us great. Come help us keep X online by providing metrics, tracing, logging, and alerting for all hardware and software services at X.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

  • Architecting and implementing scalable, secure, and efficient systems for Observability at X (metrics, logging, tracing)

  • Collaborating with other X engineering teams to develop new features and integrations with X internal services and frameworks

  • Writing clean, efficient, maintainable, and well-documented code

  • Ensuring the performance, reliability, and scalability of our backend systems

  • Troubleshooting and debugging

  • Mentoring junior engineers, multiply the effectiveness of the team by providing code and design reviews, setting the bar for quality high, and defining team’s software development best practices

  • Staying informed about industry trends and emerging technologies in the Observability space

Who you are

We're looking for exceptional engineers who are passionate about our mission and have a strong desire to make a meaningful impact. The ideal candidate will have:

  • 2+ years of professional software development experience

  • Strong computer science fundamentals, algorithms, and data structures background

  • Proficiency in one or more object-oriented programming languages (e.g. Scala, Java, C++)

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for software development life cycles

  • Experience with business-critical distributed large-scale systems

  • Strong desire for learning and growth

  • Enjoy interacting with and helping internal customers
