Job summary

DUIT, a Baltimore-based woman-owned IT consulting firm, seeks a Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure applications. You will work with technical leads to deliver robust services and impactful solutions using Java, React, and cloud platforms.

We value collaboration, clean code, and staying current with new technologies. Five years' experience and a BS in CS are required. Security background check required. On-site role in Baltimore, MD.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years' experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar work, type, and complexity is required.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.

What You Will Get to Do:

• Work closely with Technical Leads and Senior Architects to design, develop, and maintain reliable, scalable, and secure applications.
• Contribute to both back-end and front-end development efforts, building robust services alongside responsive, user-friendly interfaces using React.
• Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code while following established best practices and coding standards.
• Participate actively in code reviews, architecture planning, and technical discussions to ensure alignment on project goals.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in software engineering to continuously improve products and processes.

Required Skills:

• Experience programming with Java.
• Strong understanding of database design and development, including proficiency in querying SQL.
• Familiarity with API design, development, and integration (REST).
• Familiarity deploying to Cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure).
• Experience building and deploying applications using Docker containers.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a strong commitment to collaboration and knowledge-sharing.
• In-depth experience troubleshooting application-level and integration issues.
• Ability to support the design of systems and associated software architecture.
• Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems associated with applications, services, and software integration.
