Job summary

Google in Kirkland, WA seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the DC Resource Modeling team and guide large-scale infrastructure projects. You will manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, shaping technology and product goals with leaders, and driving planning and execution for long- and short-term objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience with developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage or hardware architecture.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of engineers dedicated to the DC Resource Modeling team.
• Establish technology and product goals in collaboration with tech leads, partners, clients, and executive leadership.
• Drive project planning, prioritization, and resource allocation to meet both the long term and short term goals.
• Drive project reviews with executive leadership and stakeholders from partner organizations.
• Oversee software logic governing physical data center racks throughout their operational lifecycle from planned deployments and commits to real‑time, "as‑maintained" active states.

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.

• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
• Experience in Infrastructure Systems, Hardware System Architecture, Data Analysis, Data Management, Data Center Architecture, Data Modeling, C++ or Java.
