Who You Are

The management plane acts as the brain of Hypershield. We seek an innovative Backend Software Engineer to develop features related to onboarding, managing, monitoring, and securing customer assets. This includes mapping AI-generated security policies to hierarchical asset groupings, navigating security postures of workloads, and integrating Hypershield with other Cisco products.

You will collaborate closely with our chief architect, review existing technologies, drive improvements, and create groundbreaking new technologies. Our small team is driving Cisco's next security evolution. Typical responsibilities include:

1. Proactively resolving complex problems impacting business direction
2. Developing innovative strategies benefiting customers and clients
3. Communicating priorities, deadlines, and requirement shifts within engineering and user needs
4. Negotiating tradeoffs in timing, design, and specifications to meet user and partner needs
5. Leading, mentoring, and influencing team members

Our ideal candidate is comfortable participating in design discussions and is creative, leveraging innovative programming languages, technologies, and tools to develop new products.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional development experience with TypeScript, Golang, C, JavaScript, or similar languages, including designing features for enterprise security solutions
• 3+ years of coding experience in Node.js
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

Preferred Qualifications

• Linux development experience
• Strong background in applications or network security, protocols, and policies (e.g., firewalls, secure web gateways, SASE/SSE)
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Experience architecting management planes or components related to control, monitoring, or deployment of security policies
• Experience integrating third-party solutions
• Proven collaboration with UX/UI Design, Product teams, and Senior management
• Mentorship experience with engineers
