Who You Are

The management plane, acting as the brain of Hypershield, requires an innovative Backend Software Engineer to develop features related to onboarding, managing, monitoring, and securing customer assets. Responsibilities include mapping AI-generated security policies to hierarchical asset groupings, enabling navigation of security postures, and integrating Hypershield with other Cisco products.

You will collaborate closely with our chief architect, review existing technologies, spearhead improvements, and create groundbreaking new technologies. As part of a small team, your typical responsibilities may include:

1. Proactively resolving complex problems impacting business direction
2. Developing and delivering innovative strategies for customers and clients
3. Communicating product priorities, deadlines, and requirement changes in line with engineering and user needs
4. Negotiating trade-offs in timing, design, and specifications to meet user and cross-functional team needs
5. Leading, mentoring, and influencing other engineering team members

Our ideal candidate is comfortable participating in design discussions, creative, and eager to utilize innovative programming languages, technologies, and tools to develop new products.

Minimum Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional development experience with TypeScript, Golang, C, JavaScript, or similar languages, including designing features for enterprise-grade security solutions
• 3+ years of coding experience in NodeJS
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

• Experience in Linux development environments
• Strong background in applications or network security, protocols, and policies (e.g., firewalls, secure web gateways, SASE/SSE)
• Solid understanding of algorithms and data structures
• Experience architecting management planes or components related to control, monitoring, or deployment of security policies
• Experience integrating third-party solutions
• Proven track record collaborating with UX/UI Design, Product teams, and Senior management
• Mentorship experience with other engineers
