Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing‑intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real‑time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
- Work individually or as part of a team to review and test software components for adherence to design requirements, document test results, and resolve software problem reports.
- Utilize appropriate software development and design methodologies for the environment.
- Provide specific input to software components of system design, including hardware/software trade‑offs, software reuse, use of COTS/GOTS, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual components.
- Communicate with broader DAT, QC, CNO, and agency teams to identify alternative or existing solutions and collaborate on common development problems.
Required Skills
- US citizen only.
- TS/SCI with polygraph required.
- Three years experience as a software engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity; bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline required (four additional years of experience may substitute for the degree).
- Experience analyzing user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
- Experience designing and coding new software or modifying existing software to add new features.
- Ability to debug existing software and correct defects.
- Experience integrating existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
- Experience developing simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
- Experience providing recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
- Experience developing or implementing algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
- Ability to assist in developing and executing test procedures for software components.
- Experience writing or reviewing software and system documentation.
- Experience developing software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, consulting with users or system engineers, analyzing system flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas.
- Experience serving as a team lead at the appropriate level in the software development process on any particular project.
- Experience modifying existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
- Ability to design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.
- Experience designing or implementing complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
