Job summary

Base-2 Solutions is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 to support the DAC (GEO + BAT Teams). This role develops, maintains, and enhances complex software systems, including processing-intensive analytics and large data sets.

You will design, code, test, debug, and improve software solutions based on documented requirements. The position requires strong Java experience, MapReduce, Hadoop ecosystem familiarity, and cloud/NoSQL skills to manage big data and data serialization formats like

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph.
• Seven (7) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline from an accredited college or university.
• Strong Java experience.
• Experience with MapReduce.
• Cloud experience.
• Experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) technologies such as HBase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, or similar.
• Experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, or similar.
• Experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
• Experience with serialization technologies such as JSON and/or BSON.

Responsibilities

• Debug existing software and correct defects.

• Serve as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on a particular project.
• Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
• Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design.

The Software Engineer will work independently or as part of a team to design, code, test, debug, and improve software solutions based on documented requirements.
