Job summary

PNC is seeking a Software Engineer - iOS/Android within the Digital Security & Authentication organization, with base locations in Pittsburgh, Denver, Strongsville, Birmingham or Dallas. You will design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java backend tech and modern front-end frameworks.

You will contribute to mobile app development on iOS and/or Android, implement secure authentication, and participate in CI/CD and cloud deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer science/software engineering.
• 5+ years of software development experience.
• 3+ years of Java enterprise applications.
• Experience with Java 11+/17+, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Experience with SQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL).
• Experience with frontend frameworks such as Angular/React/Vue.
• Experience developing mobile apps for iOS/Android.
• Familiarity with Agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java and modern web technologies.
• Build scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
• Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database solutions.
• Integrate applications with internal and external APIs and third-party services.
• Participate in application architecture, design reviews, and technical planning sessions.

Mobile Application Development

• Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for:
• o iOS (Swift and/or Objective-C) and/or
• o Android (Kotlin and/or Java)
• Develop and consume RESTful APIs for mobile applications.
• Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
• Optimize applications for performance, reliability, and user experience.
• Support deployment through Apple App Store and Google Play Store release processes.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mobile production issues.

DevOps & Quality

• Develop automated unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
• Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
• Perform code reviews and enforce development best practices.
• Monitor and improve application performance and security.
• Support cloud-native deployments and containerized environments.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 5+ years of experience in software development.
• 3+ years of experience developing Java enterprise applications.
• Strong experience with:
