We are hiring a Software Engineer - L3 Support to work on Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering layers from bare metal to cloud orchestration tools like OpenStack and Kubernetes. This role involves troubleshooting, fixing issues, and upstream bug fixing in a critical support function that impacts our customers and Ubuntu's success.

The role is remote, with teams across all time zones. Responsibilities include:

1. Resolving complex issues related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, Kubernetes, and other open source software.
2. Collaborating with support and engineering teams.
3. Participating in upstream communities and contributing patches.
4. Reviewing code and ensuring quality solutions.
5. Managing priorities and communicating effectively.
6. Engaging in team discussions to improve processes.
7. Traveling up to 10% for team events and conferences.

Ideal candidates will have:

1. An excellent academic record in Computer Science or related fields.
2. Experience with Linux and open source software.
3. Proficiency in Python, Go, C, or C++ on Linux.
4. A passion for learning and troubleshooting complex issues.
5. Willingness to travel for internal events.

Nice-to-have skills include a love for technology, curiosity, soft skills, and interest in technologies like Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, and others.
