Job summary

Jovian Concepts, LLC is seeking a Software Engineer Level 1 or 2 for the Annapolis Junction, MD area. The role focuses on building enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot, developing RESTful APIs, and managing relational databases in a secure environment.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance with MD polygraph required.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 4 years of additional software engineering experience if no degree.
• SWE Level 1 requires minimum 7 years of experience; SWE Level 2 requires minimum 14 years.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java apps with Spring Boot.
• Develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services for mission-critical systems.
• Design, optimize, and troubleshoot relational databases (MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle).

• Participate in architecture reviews, code reviews, and Agile practices.

Jovian Concepts, LLC is looking to hire a Software Engineer Level 1 or Level 2 for a great opportunity in the Annapolis Junction, MD area.

Primary Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications using Spring Boot and modern software engineering best practices.
• Develop scalable RESTful APIs and backend services supporting mission-critical applications and high-performance enterprise systems.
• Design, optimize, and troubleshoot relational database solutions using MariaDB and other enterprise database technologies.
• Support application modernization initiatives through containerization, Kubernetes deployments, and continuous improvements to system architecture.
• Participate in technical design sessions, architecture discussions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and Agile software development activities.
• Develop and maintain automated testing solutions and GitLab CI/CD pipelines to improve software quality, deployment efficiency, and operational reliability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams using Jira and Confluence while supporting the complete software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• A current and active TS/SCI Clearance with a MD Polygraph required. No CCA's will be accepted at this time.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university. Candidates without Bachelors degrees will require an additional 4 years of software engineering experience.
• For a SWE Level 1 a minimum of seven (7) years of software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity will be required.
• For a SWE Level 2 a minimum of fourteen (14) years of software engineering experience on programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity will be required.
• Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot or similar modern frameworks.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs and working with relational databases such as MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or similar technologies.
• Experience with container technologies (Docker or Podman), Kubernetes, or other modern application deployment platforms.
• Experience working in Agile development environments using Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing practices.
• Security Clearance Requirement: Active TS/SCI with Polygraph, no CCAs will be accepted at this time. Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience developing Angular or other modern web applications.
• Experience with microservices architecture, application modernization, or cloud-native software development.
• Experience implementing GitLab CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps best practices.
• Experience tuning SQL performance and supporting high-volume enterprise applications.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence to support Agile software development.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving skills across application, database, and deployment technologies.
• Experience supporting enterprise software within secure or classified environments.
