Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a Software Development Engineer to advance cluster lifecycle, health detection, and resilience features for EKS. You will work on state machines, health signals, and cross-team collaboration to deliver reliable, scalable Kubernetes services.

The role includes on-call responsibilities and opportunities to own end-to-end features across multiple services, with a focus on reliability and performance in a distributed system.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional software development experience
• 1+ years of designing and developing large-scale distributed software applications
• Experience with at least one programming language (C#, C++, Java, or Perl)
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field
• Experience with OO design and design patterns

Responsibilities

• Build and improve state machines and orchestration workflows for cluster operations
• Develop health-detection systems to surface actionable insights
• Contribute to resilience capabilities (rollback, failover, self-healing) from design to production
• Collaborate with engineers across EKS to solve cross-service problems
