Job summary

GRVTY is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement complex Java-based software for computer-based systems. You will join a small, dynamic team and mentor others while delivering high-quality software solutions.

The role requires strong Java and Kubernetes experience, RESTful services, and the ability to work in a hybrid setup with 1–2 days in the San Antonio office per week. Candidates should be US citizens, with a security clearance desired.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 9 years in Software Engineering with Java frameworks or 7 years with a related Masters degree.
• Experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments (helm, flux).
• Experience with RESTful web services and microservices architecture.
• Proven ability to learn quickly, work independently and in teams.

GRVTY is currently seeking a talented and experienced Software Engineer to join our team. As a Software Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing complex software capabilities for computer-based systems. Will work closely with other talented engineers to create software solutions that meet the needs of our clients.

What You Must Have

• Security Clearance: A current U.S. Government Security Clearance is desired, but not required. Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Minimum of 9 years experience in Software Engineering, Modern Java Frameworks and Libraries (e.g. Spring, Guava) Bachelors in related field or 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
• Experience building and maintaining Kubernetes deployments using tools like helm and flux.
• Experience in RESTful web services.
• Experience in Microservices architecture.
• Experience with the agile software lifecycle.
• Has a proven ability to learn quickly and works well both independently as well as in a team setting.
• Experience with the Linux operating system.
• Experience with configuration management tools (e.g. Git, Nexus, Maven).
• Demonstrated experience serving as a tech lead, mentor, or manager for engineering teams.
• Must be able to work in a hybrid environment, spending an average of 1‑2 days per week at a San Antonio, TX office and/or 1‑2 days per week at our customer site. Flexibility is essential to adapt to schedule changes as needed.

What Would be Nice to Have

• Experience in cloud based technologies (AWS, Azure).
• Experience designing and writing custom kubernetes tooling like operators and custom CRDs.
• Experience with programming languages such as golang and python.
• Experience with writing automation in CI/CD tooling such as gitlabs CI pipelines.
• Experience in distributed databases, NoSQL databases, full text-search engines (e.g. Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Solr).
• Scripting experience is a huge plus.
• Prior experience or familiarity with our Big Data Platform is a plus.
• Understanding of AGILE software development methodologies and use of standard software development tool suites. (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Github Enterprise, etc.)
