Job summary

Upbound Group, Inc. in Plano, TX, is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Mobile App team. You will be a core hands-on engineer building a next-generation React Native platform and owning complex app features end-to-end.

The role requires 8+ years in mobile development, strong React Native expertise, and experience with scalable e-commerce mobile architectures. This is an in-office position with cross-functional collaboration and offshore partnerships as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
• 8+ years of professional software development experience, with a primary focus on mobile applications.
• Demonstrated hands-on expertise in React Native cross-platform mobile development.
• Proven track record building and supporting high-performance, scalable e-commerce mobile architectures.
• Strong proficiency with Git workflows, automated testing frameworks, and CI/CD mobile deployment pipelines.
• Full-time, on-site role requiring 5 days per week in the Plano, TX office.

Responsibilities

• Direct Hands-On Development & Performance: Author high-quality React Native code, resolve critical bugs, and continually optimize application speed, stability, and security across mobile platforms.
• Architecture & End-to-End Ownership: Take full ownership of key feature modules from technical design through deployment and maintenance, ensuring robust integration with backend APIs and platforms.
• Cross-Functional Alignment: Work directly with product managers, UX/UI designers, and backend systems engineers to translate complex business and commerce requirements into performant technical solutions.
• Quality & Technical Alignment: Conduct thorough code reviews and partner with offshore developers to maintain architectural integrity, establish CI/CD automation, and enforce consistent code quality.
• Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues, diagnosing production bugs and performance bottlenecks systematically.
• Technical Mentorship: Share domain expertise, promote modern mobile development practices, and guide mid-level engineers to foster a high-performing engineering culture.

JOB PURPOSE

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Mobile App team, you will act as a core hands-on engineer focused on building, scaling, and maintaining our next-generation React Native mobile platform. You will drive technical execution by authoring clean, high-performance code, establishing robust mobile architecture, and taking end-to-end ownership of complex app features. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional partners and interface closely with our offshore engineering team in India - requiring occasional early morning syncs to review technical output, enforce engineering standards, and streamline delivery. While primary focus is direct code delivery, you will leverage your deep expertise in React Native to solve complex technical challenges, elevate the platform’s reliability and scalable architecture.
