Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Software Engineer I to join a collaborative engineering team supporting mission-critical software development in a secure environment. This role involves designing, developing, integrating, testing, and maintaining enterprise software applications while contributing to every phase of the software development lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in Java and .NET development, experience working across Linux and Windows environments, and a passion for building reliable, scalable software solutions using modern development tools and containerization technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze user requirements to develop software design and performance specifications.
- Design, develop, and enhance new and existing software applications.
- Debug software, identify defects, and implement effective solutions.
- Integrate software into new or existing operating environments.
- Develop and maintain data queries for databases and data repositories.
- Design and implement complex database interfaces and repository queries.
- Write, review, and maintain software and system documentation.
- Recommend improvements to software development processes, standards, and documentation.
- Collaborate with software engineers and technical teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Provide technical leadership appropriate to the software development process and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Additional applicable software engineering experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of software engineering experience supporting programs of similar scope, complexity, and technical requirements.

- Experience using version control and build tools including:
- Experience working in both Linux and Windows environments, including:

- Building and running container images

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with web application development.
- Experience working with MySQL databases.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions.
- Experience with GitHub Packages.
- Experience packaging applications for Windows environments (MSI, portable ZIP, etc.).
- Familiarity with Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL).
- Knowledge of PKI infrastructure and X.509 certificates.
- Experience developing and maintaining unit tests.
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).

Clearance Requirement
