Job summary

PNC is seeking a Software Engineer - iOS/Android in the Digital Security & Authentication group, with base in multiple locations including Strongsville, OH. The role covers full stack development, mobile app development, and DevOps practices to deliver secure, scalable enterprise applications.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in software development, strong Java and frontend skills, and experience with iOS/Android mobile development. Agile experience and cloud/container familiarity are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience developing Java enterprise applications.
  • Strong experience with Java 11+/Java 17+, Spring Boot, REST API development, microservices architecture, SQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, MySQL), Git.
  • Experience with modern frontend frameworks: Angular, React, or Vue.
  • Experience developing mobile applications for iOS, Android, or both platforms.
  • Understanding of Agile development methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications using Java and modern web technologies.
  • Build scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
  • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL database solutions.
  • Integrate applications with internal and external APIs and third‑party services.
  • Participate in application architecture, design reviews, and technical planning sessions.
  • Design, develop, and maintain mobile applications for iOS (Swift and/or Objective‑C) and/or Android (Kotlin and/or Java).
  • Develop and consume RESTful APIs for mobile applications.
  • Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms.
  • Optimize applications for performance, reliability, and user experience.
  • Support deployment through Apple App Store and Google Play Store release processes.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve mobile production issues.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, and end‑to‑end tests.
  • Participate in CI/CD pipeline development and automation.
  • Perform code reviews and enforce development best practices.
  • Monitor and improve application performance and security.
  • Support cloud‑native deployments and containerized environments.

As a Software Engineer - iOS/Android within PNC's Digital Security & Authentication organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Denver, CO, Strongsville, OH, Birmingham, AL or Dallas, TX.

Key Responsibilities
Full Stack Development
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise‑grade applications using Java and modern web technologies.
  • Build scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices architecture.
  • Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using Angular, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with both Android and iOS native development.
  • Experience with cross‑platform frameworks such as React Native, Flutter, .NET MAUI.
  • Experience with cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with event‑driven architectures and messaging platforms such as Kafka.
  • Knowledge of CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, or GitLab.
  • Mobile security, encryption, and secure coding experience.
  • Exposure to financial services, banking, or regulated environments.
