Job description

Mysten Labs believes that decentralized and open protocols are the bedrock of the internet of value. This is why at Mysten Labs, we are creating foundational infrastructure to accelerate the adoption of decentralized protocols based on blockchain technologies.

We're building a new team, Interop, a systems-focused team that extends the Data Platform team's responsibilities to support a broader set of RPC and data-heavy services built on top of Sui. The Interop Layer provides systems support for the services that run on top of Sui, in all of their aspects of Sui interactions, state management, production reliability, and release management.

The Interop team owns horizontal systems that interface directly with the Sui network — such as the Sui RPC nodes — and supports verticals spanning teams including Cryptography, Move Platform, and Walrus by productionizing their externally-facing services.

What You'll Have:

• Have 5+ years of experience in hands-on software engineering, including methodologies to ensure correctness and performance of components.
• Be fluent in a systems’ language such as Rust (used within Mysten) or C++.
• Have played a substantial role in designing and implementing large distributed systems.
• Experience with designing and evaluating secure systems, including secure programming, cryptography, and prevention of DoS attacks.
• Proficient in writing design documentation and participating in technical discussions and reviews, both synchronously and asynchronously, in person or remotely.
• Possess expertise in networking, distributed systems, storage, databases, operating systems, or runtimes to understand research papers and design systems accordingly.
• Have an interest in open, decentralized, permissionless technologies, and their intersection with technology, economics, finance, and governance.
• We especially encourage engineers with some of the above experience but no prior blockchain experience to apply.
