Job summary

Roblox is seeking a Software Engineer Intern for a 12-week program in San Mateo, CA. You will work with a dedicated mentor, own a project from coding to production, and contribute to production-scale systems.

You will collaborate with Infra, Engine, Foundational AI, and other teams, gaining broad visibility and access to leadership through tailored intern events.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Programming proficiency in one or more languages from the list (Go, Node.js, Ruby, Python, C++, Lua, Swift, C#, Java).
• Curious, collaborative, eager to learn and solve hard technical problems as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Own a project from start to finish: coding, testing, deploying to production and presenting results.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Product, Data, QA, and DevOps to deliver cohesive features.
• Apply knowledge to production-scale reality with end-to-end ownership of a project.
• Explore cutting-edge technologies (ML frameworks, agentic coding tools, LLMs) to improve engineering systems.
• Deliver live production projects and participate in mentoring and team events for interns.
• Engage in Roblox's intern matching process to connect with teams like Infra, Engine, and Foundational AI.

• As a Software Engineer Intern at Roblox, your 12-week journey is designed around accelerated learning and tangible global impact
• With the support of a dedicated mentor, you’ll apply your knowledge to production-scale reality as you take end-to-end ownership of a project tackling some of the hardest technical challenges, including distributed systems, real-time communication, 3D co-experience, data processing, rendering, and more
• Join our supportive community of engineers, receiving dedicated mentorship as you deliver live production projects
• Investigate and experiment with cutting-edge technologies, such as machine learning frameworks, agentic coding tools, and large language models (LLMs), to solve complex technical challenges and improve our engineering systems
• Own a project from beginning to end, from coding and testing to deploying it to production, and presenting your work to peers and leaders across the company
• Partner closely with cross-functional teams, including Design, Product, Data, QA, and DevOps, to deliver cohesive products and features
• Build a close community with fellow interns and full-time builders alike, while gaining a broad perspective on the company as a whole through direct access to leadership during tailored events for our interns
