Job summary

ByteDance's Global Traffic Architecture team invites interns to design, build, and operate multi-cloud traffic systems for TikTok and other ByteDance apps. You will contribute to L4/L7 load balancing, API acceleration, and platform tooling while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-growing tech environment.

The internship emphasizes practical challenges, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and opportunities to participate in workshops and social events.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in CS, CE, or related technical field.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, C, or C++, with Linux hands-on experience.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, and DNS.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM development and related tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop core traffic software (L4/L7 load balancers, caching) on our traffic platform for real-time data processing.
• Build data pipelines and telemetry systems enabling data-driven traffic control.
• Develop API acceleration and other networking services on top of the multi-cloud traffic platform.
• Troubleshoot production issues and optimize performance of online traffic.
• Research emerging technologies to improve traffic processing efficiency and scalability.
• Build platform capabilities including control plane, self-service APIs, and developer tooling.
• Develop AI-powered engineering productivity tools and agents to accelerate development and operations.
