Job summary

LPU Batangas is seeking an enthusiastic undergraduate or masters student to contribute to kernel modules and backend features for AI-native database systems in a Seattle internship. You will tackle large-scale cloud infrastructure problems and collaborate with product managers and engineers across teams.

The role emphasizes exposure to open-source systems such as Faiss, Milvus, and RocksDB, with strong focus on distributed systems, memory-augmented models, and RAG-driven approaches.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Undergraduate or Master’s degree in CS, CE, or related field.
• Experience with database kernels, distributed systems, query processing/optimization, and multithreaded programming.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Golang, Java, or Python; internships or publications are a plus.

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Develop kernel modules or features for AI-native database systems.
• Solve unique, large-scale, highly complex cloud infrastructure problems.
• Partner with product managers and engineers from different teams to build backend support for AI-native database service products.
• Participate in technical discussions related to the team's product and engineering work.

About You

The company is looking for candidates who meet the following qualifications:

• Currently pursuing an Undergraduate or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Knowledge of database kernel, distributed systems, query processing and optimization, and multi-threaded programming.
• Experience coding in C/C++, Golang, Java, or Python.
• Preferred qualifications include software engineering experience from internships, work, coding competitions, or publications.
• Curiosity towards new technologies and entrepreneurship.
• High creativity and quick problem-solving skills.
• Experience with open-source systems such as Faiss, Milvus, DuckDB, ClickHouse, TiKV, or RocksDB.
• Publications at conferences like SIGMOD, VLDB, NeurIPS, MLSys, or ICDE.
• Familiarity with GCP, AWS, or Azure database and AI integration strategies.
• Prior contributions to retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), memory-augmented models, or self-tuning database components.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate of $42.75.
