Job summary

Snowflake is seeking AI-native interns for Spring 2027 across Core Engineering, Infrastructure Automation, and Security Engineering. You will contribute to enterprise-grade software, build automation, and security trust layers for Snowflake's data platform.

SOFTWARE ENGINEER INTERN (CORE, INFRASTRUCTURE & SECURITY) — SPRING 2027

This internship spans three of Snowflake's most technically demanding engineering domains — Core Engineering, Infrastructure Automation, and Security Engineering — giving you the opportunity to build the systems, automation, and trust layers that underpin Snowflake's global data platform.

WHAT WE EXPECT

• - Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college/university program during the time of the internship
• - Desired class level: 3rd/4th year Undergraduates, Masters, or PhD
• - Desired majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related field
• - Required coursework: algorithms, data structures, object-oriented programming, operating systems
• - Recommended coursework: cloud computing, database systems, distributed systems, cryptography & authentication, networking
• - Bonus experience: research or publications in security, distributed systems, or systems programming; contributions to open source

• Spring 2027
• Eligible start date options: January 4, 2027; January 19, 2027
• Eligible end date options: March 26, 2027; April 9, 2027; May 7, 2027
• Duration: 12 week minimum, 16 weeks recommended (12 month maximum)

TECHNICAL SKILLS

• - Excellent programming skills in Java, C++, Go, and/or Python
• - Preferred knowledge of C++20/C++17 or Java 20/Java 17
• - Knowledge of data structures and algorithms
• - Systems programming skills including multi-threading, concurrency, etc.
• - Experience with DevOps tooling (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform) and containerization (Kubernetes, Docker) a plus
• - Strong problem solving and ability to learn quickly in a dynamic environment
• - Experience working as part of a team
• - Dedication and passion for technology

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN/GAIN

• - How to build enterprise grade, reliable, and trustworthy software/services
• - Exposure to SQL or other database technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop)
• - Exposure to security, cryptography, access control, and identity and access management technologies
• - Understanding of database internals, large-scale data processing, distributed systems, and data warehouse design
• - Experience building automation frameworks and infrastructure to improve engineering workflow efficiency
• - Experience delivering quality software in large distributed systems with emphasis on functional and performance automation
• - Experience working with cloud infrastructure — AWS, Azure, and/or Google Cloud in particular
• - Learning about cutting-edge database technology and research
