Job summary

Cboe Global Markets, Inc. invites talented students to join the Real-Time team as a Software Engineer intern. You will work with our development group to design, implement, and support a high-throughput, low-latency trading system during a summer internship.

The program runs June to August, requires enrollment in a BS/MS in CS or related field, and teaches production-quality coding in a fast-paced financial/technical environment. Strong Linux/C++ and scripting skills are valued.

Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Computer Science or related field.
• Strong knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with C++, or experience in another language with a strong desire to learn C++.
• Experience with Linux or UNIX-like operating systems.
• Knowledge of at least one scripting language (Python preferred).
• Experience with SQL.
• Knowledge of network programming fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Working alongside our software development team to contribute to projects integral to our business.
• Collaborate with experienced developers and fellow interns, providing hands-on experience designing, implementing, and troubleshooting complex systems.
• Gain practical experience writing production-quality code as you work on a high-throughput, low-latency trading system in an Agile development environment.

The Real‑Time team is hiring for Software Engineer intern

The Real‑Time Intern will work closely with the Real‑Time Team as we design, develop, and support the Exchange trading system. We care deeply about system reliability, testability, recoverability, fault tolerance, throughput, and latency. We measure times in nanoseconds. Our engineers have a strong understanding of computer science fundamentals and software engineering. We are looking for like‑minded individuals to join us.

Our pay range for interns is determined by function and education level. The national new hire base pay range for this job in the United States is $22.00 - $42.00 per hour. This range represents the minimum and maximum base pay target for new hires working in the position full time. Within the range, individual pay is determined by years of education completed. In addition to base pay, eligibility for our total rewards program may include benefits such as 401 (k) with a generous company match and paid sick time.
