Waggoner Financial is seeking a software engineer intern to join our internal platform team in Lansing, MI. You’ll work across our stack (NestJS GraphQL API, React frontend, PostgreSQL) and build tools advisors use to inform real investment decisions.

The role supports early-career developers with mentorship while giving more experienced engineers opportunities to influence architecture and guide others. You’ll gain hands-on ownership of real features used by advisors.

Qualifications

• Experience shipping real software in TypeScript/JavaScript.
• Full-stack reasoning: UI-API-Data relationships.
• Readable code and active participation in reviews.
• Clear communication with non-engineers (financial advisors).
• Curiosity about the financial domain; finance background not required.
• Familiarity with LLM coding assistants.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and ship features end-to-end across the internal platform.
• Build and maintain integrations with financial data providers and authentication.
• Develop analytics and decision tools for portfolio metrics, earnings tracking, and risk analysis.
• Build AI-powered features including document search and chat over internal knowledge.
• Participate in code review, testing, and platform architecture restructuring.
