Job summary

Stripe, LLC. is seeking a Software Engineer in Seattle to design, develop, and maintain APIs, backend services, and distributed systems using Ruby, Java, Go and Scala.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to build scalable software, ensure reliability, and implement testing and monitoring. The role offers 40 hours/week with telecommuting options and comprehensive benefits including equity and a 401(k).

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 2 years of software development experience.
• 2 years experience with Ruby, Java, Scala or Go.
• 2 years building backend or full-stack applications for large-scale systems.
• 2 years designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and distributed systems in a production environment.
• 2 years writing unit tests and performing manual testing for software changes.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and support APIs, backend services, and distributed systems using Ruby, Java, Go and Scala.
• Build, test, deploy, and maintain software infrastructure to support large-scale production systems.
• Design and develop software systems using analytical techniques and mathematical models to evaluate system performance, predict outcomes, and assess design tradeoffs.
• Develop and execute software testing, validation, debugging, and documentation procedures to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Diagnose and resolve production issues across multiple services and layers of the technology stack.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine technical feasibility, design approaches, and implementation timelines within cost and resource constraints.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to design and implement new features for large-scale systems.
• Design and build systems to securely store, manage, and modify production data and services.
• Improve engineering standards, development tools, and software development processes to enhance system quality and efficiency.

Who you are

Minimum requirements

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, plus 2 years of software development experience.

Must also have 2 years of experience in each of the following:

• Developing Software Applications.
• Working with programming languages: Ruby, Java, Scala or Go.
• Building backend or full-stack applications for large-scale systems.
• Designing, building, and maintaining APIs, services, and distributed systems in a production environment.
• Writing unit tests and performing manual testing for software changes.
• Implementing Industry-standard software design patterns including distributed systems, event driven architecture, fault-tolerant systems, cost-effective engineering.

Salary: $156,800.00 – $235,200.00/yr

This salary range represents the base salary range for the role and any sales commissions/sales bonuses targets, if applicable, would be in addition to the base salary.

40 hrs/week

50% Telecommuting Permitted.
