Description
The Developer Platform team is responsible for building a cloud-native developer platform (PaaS) that enables the end-to-end software development lifecycle for over 600 engineers at Verily. We furnish a speedy, delightful, scalable, and secure developer journey through integrated capabilities in application templates, developer portals, CI, CD and other functional areas.
We are a product-oriented, highly-effective, world-class platform engineering team that has a large positive impact on the software development process at Verily. As part of this team, you will work closely with engineers who have worked on successful projects like Kubernetes, Istio, and Firebase.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of platform capabilities using modern cloud-native tools and open-source technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Backstage, ArgoCD, Terraform), with guidance from senior engineers.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code in collaboration with team members.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and team planning activities to learn and apply engineering best practices.
- Assist in deploying and monitoring services in a production environment.
- Learn to scope tasks and manage priorities with support from mentors and leads.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent practical experience through internships, projects, or self-directed learning.
- Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Go, Python, or C++.
- Exposure to cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure) through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
- Understanding of basic data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills; ability to ask questions and learn from feedback.
Preferred Qualifications
- Internship or project experience with Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, or developer platforms.
- Demonstrated interest in developer experience and platform tooling.
- Passion for learning and growing in a collaborative engineering environment.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $106,000 - $150,000 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
