Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a driven engineer to design and optimize high-performance packet-processing software for the TeraWave edge. You will develop in C/C++ with DPDK and VPP, delivering line-rate performance at 100G/400G speeds and implementing BGP, EVPN, SRv6, and related tunneling protocols.

You will lead, review code, and mentor junior engineers while collaborating with platform, hardware, and networking teams to define dataplane interfaces and drive benchmarking for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

2+ years of experience in systems programming with a demonstrated track record of shipping carrier-grade networking software
Expert-level proficiency in C or C++
Strong experience with Linux systems programming, including threading, memory management, and interrupt handling
Solid understanding of the OSI model, TCP/IP stack, and Ethernet switching fundamentals
Hands-on experience with DPDK or VPP preferred
Knowledge of eBPF, XDP, or Linux Kernel networking internals preferred
Experience with Mellanox/NVIDIA (MLNX_OFED), Intel E810, or Broadcom DNX-based silicon preferred
Deep understanding of BGP, EVPN, and SRv6 preferred
Experience with CPU pinning, NUMA-awareness, and cache-line optimization techniques preferred
Experience with containerized networking, including Kubernetes CNI and DPDK-in-Docker deployments preferred
Background in space systems, satellite communications, or telecommunications networking preferred

Responsibilities

Design and develop high-performance packet-processing applications in C/C++ using DPDK and FD.io VPP for the TeraWave Point of Presence
Profile and optimize software for line-rate performance at 100G/400G speeds while minimizing latency and jitter
Implement IP routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and IS-IS, plus SRv6, MPLS, and GRE tunneling encapsulation
Develop drivers and software interfaces for hardware accelerators, SmartNICs, and FPGA-offload engines
Architect distributed dataplane systems scaling horizontally across TeraWave Point of Presence clusters
Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior engineers
Collaborate with platform, hardware, and network engineering teams on dataplane software requirements and interfaces
Drive continuous performance benchmarking and optimization of packet-forwarding pipelines
Contribute to software architecture decisions and technology selection for TeraWave network-edge infrastructure
