Sprouts Farmers Market, Inc. in Phoenix, AZ, seeks a seasoned Data Scientist/ML Engineer to own design, delivery and operation of ML models and AI-enabled features. You will translate complex business questions into data-driven solutions, run experiments, monitor models, and share findings with engineering and business partners.

This role requires 5+ years of experience and strong Python/SQL skills. The position offers a hybrid work arrangement with in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday

Qualifications

• 5+ years of data science, machine learning, or AI engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with production experience in ML frameworks, experimentation, feature engineering, model registries, and model monitoring.

• Own the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of ML models and AI-enabled features.
• Conduct detailed analysis to translate business questions into data-driven solutions.
• Design experiments and implement model lifecycle, monitoring, and explainability practices.
• Explain findings to engineering and business partners and ensure shared understanding.
• Provide technical guidance and training to associate and intermediate engineers; delegate work as needed.
• Operate models independently and contribute to AI strategy and governance.

Overview

Own the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of assigned services or feature areas within the professional discipline. Deliver operational targets with significant impact on departmental results, resolve difficult problems through detailed analysis, and communicate technical information to ensure understanding across partner teams.

The role reports to our Store Support Office in Phoenix, AZ, with a hybrid work arrangement requiring in-office presence Tuesday through Thursday.

Overview of Responsibilities

• Own the design, delivery, operation, and continuous improvement of assigned ML models and AI-enabled features.
• Conduct detailed analysis and investigation to translate difficult business questions into data-driven solutions.
• Design experiments and implement model lifecycle, monitoring, explainability, and rollback practices.
• Explain technical findings and recommended changes to engineering and business partners and ensure shared understanding.
• Provide technical guidance and training to associate and intermediate engineers; may delegate work and review work products.
• Operate assigned models independently and seek leadership guidance for broader AI strategy, governance, or platform decisions.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of data science, machine learning, or AI engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL with production experience in ML frameworks, experimentation, feature engineering, model registries, and model monitoring.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with adjacent technical disciplines relevant to the assigned engineering area.
