Job summary
Crunchyroll is seeking a Software Engineer, Media Delivery in San Francisco to build the future of anime streaming. You will ensure fast, reliable delivery and work with engineers, product managers, and UX designers on key initiatives.
You will own the delivery stack, apply modern cloud technologies (AWS/GCP), and uphold security, testing, and observability as part of an agile team committed to high-quality playback experiences.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of software experience delivering robust services.
- Proficient in modern TypeScript development.
- Experience with AWS and/or GCP cloud technologies.
- Experience deploying CDNs (Fastly, Akamai).
- Experience building and managing networking solutions.
- Ownership of application and infrastructure security.
- Strong observability, monitoring, and alerting.
- Experience collaborating with external partners.
- Ownership from design to delivery.
- Agile environment with bias for action.
Responsibilities

As a Software Engineer, Media Delivery, you will play an integral part in building the future of Anime streaming at Crunchyroll.
- Ensure customers have fast, reliable delivery of the content they love
- Work with a collaborative team of Software Engineers, Product Managers, and UX Designers on key initiatives
- Implement clean, well tested solutions to common video streaming concepts
- Keep teammates accountable for best engineering practices including testing, security, code/architecture reviews, and accurate documentation
- Review both technical designs and implementation output of your peers
- Build solutions to both serve our customers and to monitor the impact we deliver
In the role of Software Engineer, Media Delivery, you will report to the Engineering Manager of Media Delivery Engineering.
We are considering applicants at our San Francisco office location.
- You have 5+ years of experience in software with a track record for building robust, reliable services and infrastructure
- You are experienced with modern Typescript development and may be familiar with multiple modern programming languages
- You have deep expertise building with modern cloud technologies in AWS and/or GCP and associated tools such as Terraform and Pulumi
- You have experience deploying Content Delivery Networks with vendors like Fastly and Akamai
- You have experience building and managing networking solutions
- You take ownership of application and infrastructure security
- You insist on building observability, monitoring, and alerting into every solution you deliver
- You have experience working with external partners to build or implement a joint solution
- You take ownership of your outputs from design through to delivery
- You excel in an Agile environment and have a bias for action

The Pay Range for this position is listed. Actual pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of Crunchyroll’s Total Rewards offerings for employees. Other rewards may include performance bonuses, employer matched retirement savings, time‑off programs, and progressive health benefits and perks.
