Job summary

Grainger in Chicago is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Software Engineer III) on the Data Sharing team within the Product Information Management organization to design, code, configure, test, implement and support application software delivering on time and within budget.

You will mentor junior engineers and collaborate with technical teams, stakeholders and product managers to understand business requirements driving the design of technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of modern software engineering experience.
• Understanding of distributed systems design.
• Experience analyzing and interpreting complex problems and processes.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevOps practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop end-to-end services (APIs and stream processing) using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build applications and develop product design solutions with engineers, architects, and analysts.
• Utilize specialized skills based on platform or domain as required.
• Implement continuous delivery activities (CI/CD) and drive engineering best practices.
• Support team activities and pair with peers on stories.
• Coach and mentor junior engineers.
• Practise sensible defaults (TDD, pair programming, trunk-based development).
• Participate in on-call rotation.

Compensation

The anticipated base pay compensation range for this position is $112,900.00 - $188,100.00. This role is eligible for an incentive target of up to 10% or $, based on the achievement of individual and company performance objectives in accordance with the current terms of the incentive program which are subject to change.

Position Details

As a Senior Software Engineer (Software Engineer III)on the Data Sharing team in the Product Information Management organization,you will be involved in the full systems life cycle and responsible for designing, coding, configuring, testing, implementing and supporting application software and systems that are delivered on time and within budget. In addition to mentoring junior engineers, you will work closely with technical teams, stakeholders and product managers to understand the business requirements that drive the analysis and physical design of technical solutions. The Data Sharing team is responsible for building and operating APIs and event streams to make product data available to all of Grainger.

You Will
