Job summary

Ad Hoc LLC is seeking a Software Engineer III - Full Stack (Drupal) to join our Federal Civilian team in a remote role across the United States. You will contribute to Drupal development, front-end and back-end work, and collaborate with cross-functional teams delivering critical government digital services.

The position requires 5+ years of engineering experience, a U.S. citizenship, and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program engineering experience (C#, JAVA/J2EE, etc)
  • Proven experience with Drupal development
  • Strong proficiency in front-end and back-end technologies
  • Familiarity with Apache configurations
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Progressive experience with relevant technologies, understands roles with which they interact and how their work impacts business goals

Responsibilities

  • Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with guidance from the team
  • Mentors junior developers and shares knowledge
  • Assesses and diagnoses issues with the systems they own, prioritizing problem areas based on alignment with other practice areas
  • Participates in on-call rotations with their team as necessary
  • Presents on and writes about their work to both internal and external parties
  • Participates in planning sessions, building an understanding of major architectures and design patterns
  • Supports recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviews
  • Exhibits influential skills to drive improvements in team engineering processes and practices
  • Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the business, how practices interact, and what customer problems we're solving

The Federal Civilian business unit supports many customers spanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact.

Primary Responsibilities:

Software Engineer III - Full Stack serves as an emerging individual contributor within a team, expanding your leadership, guidance and mentoring skills. With the support and guidance of leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule and delivery requirements. You will interact with stakeholders and utilize influential skills to drive improvements in engineering processes and practices.

Primary expectations of a Software Engineer III - Full Stack include:

Estimates and completes development tasks including coding, requirements gathering, and analysis with a little feedback and guidance from their team

Practices technical and communications skills to improve context knowledge and mentor junior developers

Assesses and diagnoses issues with the systems they own, prioritizing problem areas based on alignment with other practice areas

Participates in on-call rotations with their team as necessary

Presents on and writes about their work to both internal and external parties

Participates in planning sessions, building an understanding of major architectures and design patterns

Supports recruiting efforts by evaluating homework assignments and potentially assisting with interviews

Exhibits influential skills to drive improvements in team engineering processes and practices

Exhibits a comprehensive understanding of the business, how practices interact, and what customer problems we're solving

Basic Qualifications:

5+ years of program engineering experience (C#, JAVA/J2EE, etc)

Proven experience with Drupal development

Strong proficiency in front-end and back-end technologies

Familiarity with Apache configurations

Excellent problem-solving skills

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Progressive experience with relevant technologies, understands roles with which they interact and how their work impacts business goals

Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to successfully complete and maintain the required federal Public Trust background investigation and suitability determination.

Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science or related field)

Relevant years of experience may be substituted for education

Preferred Qualifications:

Develop and maintain Drupal websites and applications, hosted on Acquia

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features

Write readable, efficient, and testable code

Troubleshoot and debug issues

Keep up to date on industry trends and technologies

Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback

Document successful solutions and usage instructions

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility. The range of starting pay for this role is $105,000 - $110,000.
