Job summary

Everfox is seeking a Software Engineer in Richardson, TX to enhance cybersecurity products for government and commercial customers. You will develop features, test infrastructure, and support cross-domain solutions in a Linux environment.

The role requires 8+ years in software/related disciplines, hands-on Linux development, and experience with multiple languages including Rust/C/C++/Java/Python/Go. On-site 2–3 days per week with flexible scheduling.

Qualifications

• BS Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Information Security or equivalent with 8+ years in software/related roles.
• Experience with Linux-based development using Java, Python, Go, C/C++, and/or Bash.
• Hands-on TCP/IP networking and related protocols (HTTP, SSH, IPSEC, TLS/SSL).

We’re hiring for a hybrid role. You’ll work on-site with your team several days each week (typically 2–3), with the specific days set by your manager. Because regular in-person collaboration is central to this job, we look for candidates who live within about 50 miles of the office. About the role

We have an immediate need for a Software Engineer to enhance capabilities of cyber products for security-conscious government & commercial customers. The position will be responsible for developing & testing new product capabilities, software development/build tools, software test infrastructure & operational support for cross-domain products. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, working in a cohesive team environment, willing to grow & learn using many software development & operational tools to test, debug & support software for secure Linux desktop environments, IT operations/enterprise management, IP networking/routing and remote/virtual desktop deployments.

Location: Richardson, Texas

On-site Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday (standard work schedule with flexibility for mission-critical requirements).

Key Responsibilities

• Utilize your expertise in software development processes to guide the requirement definition, design and implementation of secure message gateways.
• Demonstrate competency working hands-on in Linux based environments.
• Develop new features and extensions to existing products using a variety of languages including Rust, C, C++, Java, and proprietary languages.
• Self-starter utilizing your Linux and scripting expertise to integrate new features and extensions into complex products.
• Leverage standard networking concepts to support the design and implementation of Cross Domain capabilities.
• Develop data inspection policies using proprietary and open-source programming languages.
• Provide technical briefings to customers and Everfox leadership as required.

Key Experience and Education Requirements

• BS Computer Science, Computer Engineer, Information Security or equivalent 8+ years’ experience in software engineering, system engineering or related disciplines.
• Experience with software development in Linux environments using a variety of programming and scripting languages including Java, Python, Go, C/C++, and/or bash.
• Hands-on experience implementing TCP/IP networking & related protocols (such as HTTP, SSH, IPSEC, TLS/SSL, etc).
• Robust understanding of private and public keys and/or certificates.
• Experience with version control technologies such as Git.
• Red Hat Enterprise, Fedora or Ubuntu Linux operating systems.
• Ability to obtain Government Security Clearance if needed.

Nice to Have

• Direct experience with Link16, JREAP-C, TADIL-J, USMTF, VMF and related standards and protocols.
• Experience with security design and architecture of Cross Domain solutions (CDS).
• Experience with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Codex, Gemini or Open Code.
• Agile or Scrum development experience.
• Experience with deploying cloud technologies such as MS Azure or AWS.
• Experience with virtual desktop redisplay technologies such as RDP, Citrix Receiver or VMware Horizon View.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is: $125,100.00-164,000.00 USD. The actual salary offered may vary within the range based on a candidates' unique experience, locale, and business needs. In addition to a base salary and bonus plans, Everfox offers a generous benefits package including flexible PTO, a 401k match, and contribution to healthcare coverages.
