Job summary

Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to architect and implement mission-critical software for UAV flight computers.

You will connect flight algorithms with custom avionics hardware, developing high-performance C/C++ applications that ensure deterministic control and system reliability. Collaborating with electrical and GNC engineers, you will design complex physical-digital interactions with MATLAB/Simulink.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Real-time C and/or C++ programming expertise with 6+ years.
• Expert in debugging complex multi-process/multi-thread real-time systems.
• Familiarity with common communications protocols and networking.
• Experience with Java, C++ or other object oriented language.

ABOUT THE JOB

As aniEmbedded Software Engineeriyou will architect and implement mission-critical software for our next-generation UAV flight computers. You will be the primary link between complex flight algorithms and custom avionics hardware, developing high-performanceCiandiC++iapplications that ensure deterministic control and absolute system reliability. Working at the intersection of hardware and software, you will collaborate with electrical and GNC (Guidance, Navigation, and Control) engineers to design and implement complex physical-digital interactions withiMATLAB/Simulink.

Required:

Software Engineer III

• Requires BS degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other Engineering, Mathematics, or Science discipline, with appropriate software coursework and/or experience.
• Expert in real-time C and/or C++ programming with 6+ years experience.
• Expert fluency in debugging complex multi-process/multi-thread real-time systems.
• Deep understanding of compiler nuances, and memory management.
• Familiarity with common communications protocols and networking.
• Experience with Java, C++ or other object oriented language.

Preferred:

Software Engineer III

• 3+ years experience leading small teams of engineers in software development projects.
• Modeling and Simulation experience.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Office and or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to stand and sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (keyboarding, 10-key, phones).
• May work extended hours or weekends.
• May be required to lift up to 50 pounds in accordance with KUAS General Safety Training guidelines.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

• 5-10% May be required between other KUAS locations.
