Software Engineer II, Windows Application Developer
San Mateo, CA
We’re looking for a Software Engineer II to help design, build, and maintain our Windows desktop application using React Native Windows and C++. You’ll work closely with product owners, QA, UX, and backend teams to ship high-quality features and help evolve our engineering practices.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, test, and document new features in our Windows desktop app using React Native Windows and modern C++
Collaborate with Product Managers and UX designers to translate requirements into technical designs
Write and maintain unit tests and integration tests to ensure stability and prevent regressions
Participate in code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and help maintain high code quality
Diagnose and resolve performance, memory, and reliability issues on Windows
Contribute to CI/CD pipeline improvements, automated build scripts, and release processes
Stay current on React Native Windows, C++ standards, and Windows platform APIs—and share knowledge with the team
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
2–4 years of professional experience building desktop applications
Hands-on experience with React Native (preferably React Native Windows)
Proficiency in modern C++ (C++17 or later) and familiarity with Windows SDKs
Experience writing automated tests (e.g., Jest, Google Test) and using debugging tools (e.g., WinDbg, Visual Studio)
Familiarity with Git and code-review workflows
Strong problem-solving skills with attention to performance, reliability, and maintainability
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable collaborating across distributed teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with React Native Windows internals or native-module development
Knowledge of Windows installer frameworks (e.g., WiX, MSIX) and update delivery mechanisms
Familiarity with build automation tools such as CMake, MSBuild, or Bazel
Exposure to telemetry and logging frameworks for desktop applications
Understanding of networking concepts, binary patching, or differential updates
Prior work on game-related tooling or launcher applications

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.
$133,300 - $199,900 USD
