Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. is seeking a Software Engineer Test Automation Associate to join the Corporate Technology HR Workforce Technology Testing Center of Excellence. You will design, build, and maintain automated tests across multiple domains to ensure secure, scalable software products and rapid delivery within an agile team.

You will leverage AI-assisted tools, implement BDD, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve code quality and testing coverage through automation across the SDLC.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
• Hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows and secure handling of inputs/outputs.
• Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle.

As a Software Engineer Test Automation Associate at JPMorgan Chase within the Corporate Technology HR Workforce Technology Testing Center of Excellence Team, you serve as a seasoned member of an agile team to design and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You are responsible for carrying out critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm’s business objectives. Your expertise in Test automation will be vital in ensuring the superior quality of our software and promptly resolving any issues.

Job responsibilities

• Executes test automation software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.
• Creates secure and high-quality test automation code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools within the work environment to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity (e.g., code. generation/refactoring, unit test creation, documentation), while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
• Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation.
• Produces test automation architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring quality software code development.
• Gathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops test data solutions in support of test automation and global quality coverage from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems.
• Proactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in code quality and data via test automation solutions to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture.
• Contributes to software engineering test automation communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.
• Collaborate closely with technology teams for BDD implementation.
• Conduct automation feasibility studies and derive ROI.
• Apply practical experience in test automation with JAVA, Selenium, BDD Cucumber, API testing, and database knowledge, with familiarity in one or more automation tools.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience (must keep this)
• Hands‑on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools within the work environment (e.g., for coding, testing, troubleshooting, or documentation) with demonstrated ability to critically evaluate and validate AI‑generated outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations.
• Experience across the whole Software Development Life Cycle
• Exposure to agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, Version Control (Bitbucket, GIT) and Security.
• Must have expertise in Test Automation, Functional Testing, Performance Testing, Regression Testing, etc.
• Proficient in SQL/ Test data management using SQLs.
• Hands‑on practical experience in one of test automation tool like Selenium, Cucumber Playwright, etc.
• Knowledge of Java.
• Must have expertise in BDD / TDD – Behavior Driven Development/ Test Driven Development
• Oracle HCM testing or configuration experience.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

• Experience designing and developing scalable test automation frameworks using Selenium, Playwright, Cucumber (BDD), JUnit/TestNG, or similar automation technologies.
• Proficiency in Java, Python, or other object‑oriented programming languages with a strong focus on test automation and software quality engineering.
• Experience implementing automated testing within CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.
• Knowledge of API, web services, and microservices testing using tools and frameworks such as REST Assured, Postman, Karate, or equivalent solutions.
• Experience with performance, reliability, and resiliency testing using tools such as JMeter, LoadRunner, or comparable performance testing technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud‑based application testing, container technologies, and test automation practices in AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar environments.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Product, Engineering, DevOps, and Quality Assurance teams to drive quality throughout the software development lifecycle.
