Job description

Overview

We are seeking a talented and motivated Software Engineer II/Senior Software Engineer to join our technology arm at Iambic Therapeutics. You will be a key player in applying advanced software engineering skills to build technologies that support our drug discovery efforts. Your key responsibilities include contributing to the development, testing and release of the backend server of our Drug Discovery platform. This role is remote optional, with our first preference for candidates in San Diego, CA, our second for candidates on the US West Coast and third preference for those on the US East Coast.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in a cross-functional team that spans the full domain of drug discovery
• Support a software platform that supports the drug discovery DMTA process
• Provide software development support for the platform:
• Efficient and maintainable backend server software including Postgres integration
• Deployments to Kubernetes in AWS (in collaboration with our cloud engineers)
• Collaborate on the creation, testing and maintenance of the platform
• Contribute to continuous improvement in software best practices, including architecture development, design, testing, release management and documentation
• Participate in code reviews
• Ability to collaborate with ML scientists, Computation Chemists, Chemists and Biologists and others in the company to understand platform requirements
• Clear oral communication of work in meetings and company demos, at a level suited to the audience

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent experience for Software Engineer II
• Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent experience for Senior Software Engineer
• PhD in Chemistry or Biology or a related field, or similar experience preferred
• Strong software and technical skills including:
• Python and scientific computing ecosystem (e.g., Pydantic, asyncio, FastAPI etc)
• Experience with Kubernetes (e.g., ability to create/manage Helm charts)
• Track record of designing and developing in coordination with frontend developers
• Ability to work with DevOps/CloudOps engineers
• Can communicate with ML engineers
• Demonstrated competence and rigor in software development
