Job summary

JPMorgan Chase & Co. in Chicago, IL is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Commercial and Investment Bank technology team to design, build, and maintain scalable data-driven solutions in a secure environment.

You will contribute to data pipelines, ETL processes, and analytics, using SQL, Python, AWS, and Databricks, while leveraging AI-assisted development tools and following modern SDLC practices to deliver robust software products.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in Data Engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
• Experience with modern Lakehouse: Databricks.
• Experience in Python, Pyspark, AWS, Databricks, Gen/Agentic AI skills, MCP, Elastic search, RESTAPI.
• Proficient in SQL coding (joins and aggregations) and RDBMSs.
• Experience with building and optimizing data pipelines and data sets.
• Experience with ETL processes and streaming data workflows.
• Hands-on with enterprise AI-assisted development tools and solid validation of outputs.
• Understanding of responsible AI use and secure data handling.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and ETL processes to support data integration and analytics.
• Frequently utilizes SQL and understands NoSQL databases and their niche in the marketplace
• Leverages enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, with peer review and testing.
• Contribute to data modernization efforts using cloud solutions and optimize data processing workflows
• Apply SDLC tools, including AI-assisted development to improve automation value
• Perform data extraction and implement complex data transformation logic to meet business requirements
• Ensure data availability and accuracy for analytics, monitor data quality checks
• Identify opportunities for automation in data engineering workflows
• Implement data orchestration and workflow automation using AWS Step Functions and EventBridge
• Use Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management of data infrastructure
