Mastercard powers payments networks and is seeking a Software Engineer II to contribute across design, development, testing, deployment, and support of secure, scalable software for critical payment capabilities. You will translate business requirements into technical solutions and uphold engineering excellence through quality, security, performance, and observability.

Qualifications

Experience developing, testing, deploying, and supporting software in an enterprise environment.
Ability to translate business requirements into secure, scalable software solutions.
Understanding of software design principles, architecture concepts, and design patterns.
Experience applying data structures and programming techniques to solve problems.
Experience with unit, functional, and integration testing practices.
Knowledge of secure coding standards and secure software development practices.
Experience participating in code reviews and following software quality practices.
Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills.
Understanding of performance, scalability, reliability, and observability concepts.
Familiarity with production readiness, monitoring, and operational support.
Experience with source control, CI/CD, automation, and modern delivery methods.
Familiarity with Agile development practices (Scrum/Kanban).
Strong collaboration and communication with stakeholders.
Proven ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and patterns.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, test, deploy, and support software applications throughout the SDLC.
Translate business and technical requirements into scalable, secure software solutions.
Contribute to design discussions, applying patterns and engineering standards.
Write secure, high‑quality code following established standards.
Participate in code reviews to improve quality and security.
Develop and maintain unit, functional, and integration tests.
Troubleshoot, debug, and refactor applications to improve stability.
Analyze and optimize performance, scalability, and reliability.
Apply data structures and software engineering principles for efficiency.
Build software with observability and production readiness in mind.
Participate in Agile planning, elaboration, estimation, and delivery with stakeholders.
Utilize CI/CD pipelines, automation, and source control to improve efficiency.
Collaborate with peers to evaluate solutions and share knowledge.
Create and maintain technical documentation for components and APIs.
Continuously learn and adopt new technologies and approaches.
