Job summary

Assured Information Security (AIS) in Rome, NY is seeking a Software Engineer II to join our Trusted Systems team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years of professional software engineering experience and will contribute to research, engineering design, and the development of innovative software solutions.

*This is an onsite position located in Rome, NY and requires an active Secret clearance*

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field, plus 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent.
• Experience with C/C++ or Rust.
• Experience with Python, Bash or other scripting languages.
• Experience working in a Linux environment.
• Knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
• Strong foundation in operating systems, data structures and programming fundamentals.
• Familiarity with virtualization/containerization (Docker, KVM, VirtualBox, Xen).
• Ability to understand and describe technical software systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, debug, and test software with oversight from senior staff.
• Work within a Linux-based development environment.
• Collaborate with senior engineers to design and develop software.
• Contribute to an agile team with engineers, testers, and investigators.
• Contribute to technical documentation.
• Participate in code and design reviews with oversight from senior staff.
• Decompose tasks and estimate level of effort for software and system work.
